A Little Portrait Wall

Recently I have been updating our bedroom a little bit and have been slowly adding more French style touches to the decor. My friend Marci is the "Queen of French" so to speak and her decor has really influenced the way our bedroom is evolving. I have been collecting these adorable vintage and antique portrait prints for awhile now and finally had enough of the "nicer" ones to make a pretty display on one of the walls. Most of them are very "Marie Antoinette-ish" looking and I just love them!

I am also a fan of old swag lamps and I adore the ones with the gorgeous chunky gold metal roses and leaves attached. I came across this one at the Salvation Army a few weeks back and just had to have it for the corner of the bedroom. Out went the tole chandelier into the main powder room and in came the swag lamp....musical lamps around here I swear! I'm always moving lamps around! Anyway, I love this pretty swag lamp and it adds a nice "Frenchy" feel to the corner. It's so pretty at night too! Love it!

My next job is to update the top of the wardrobe, but that will have to wait for now. Until next time, have a lovely day! ~Stacy~ xo

Antoinette & Friends Door Plaque

Those of you who have followed my blog over the years know that summer usually tends to take me away from posting very regularly at all. It's not that I'm super busy...it's just that the last thing I want to be doing is to be sitting at my computer on a lovely day! I am an outside girl, even in the heat! (*_*) I'm so thankful for all of you regular posters though as I love to while away part of my evenings perusing all of the gorgeous eye candy out there...so thank you ladies for keeping me entertained and up to date! (*_*)

Today I thought I'd share with you a little project that I finished up a few weeks back. A friend of mine gave me this adorable wooden sign complete with a very pretty carved top with a bow in the center so I thought I'd make a little vignette to hang on my front door. I added vintage sheet music for the background and then adorned it with gorgeous tags that I purchased from my friend Janet over at Shabbyfufu. She makes the BEST stuff! I added a few small embellishments and then I put an adorable pink bird on the corner. I found this charming creature at Michael's a few months back. Actually...I bought all of the pink birds that they had left! What can I say?!...I'm a pink girl! I was also going to add trim around the edges, but I never got around to it so I think I'll just leave it alone. I didn't have any at the time and I didn't feel like buying any so there it sits!

I'd love to hear what projects you are working on or what's on your front door. Until next time, have a lovely day! ~Stacy~ xo

A Dose Of Pink!

Well, it's been exactly ONE month since my last post! I know that I've been missing in action as of late. The weather has turned warmer and I have been spending a lot of time outside in my yard with my flowers. The web site has been sorely neglected too, but I think that my huge dose of cabin fever has finally been satisfied a little bit with all of my outdoor pursuits.

As most of you know that read my blog, my favorite color is PINK! I love to cruise around the web looking for pretty photographs that I am allowed to share, so I usually visit Flickr for the best and most beautiful pictures of all. Here is a collection of pretty PINK photos for you to enjoy. I seem to be really into old pink vehicles lately. I especially love the little PINK Ford truck! I would love to have this in my yard to plant flowers around and I would heap up the truck bed with topsoil and plant flowers back there too! Wouldn't that be divine!

See the stunning pink blossoms...those are from Japanese Kwanzan double flowering cherry trees and I was lucky enough to purchase three of them at Lowe's recently to plant on our front park strip. We only need eight more for our side park strip and hopefully we will find them again at Lowe's when their next shipment of trees comes in. Aren't they incredible! When I go to visit my dentist, his office is tucked into a little orchard of these trees and if it's windy out, soft pink petals come floating down all around you as you stroll by. Now isn't this a much more pleasant thought than actually visiting the dentist! Enjoy the pretty PINKNESS! ~Stacy~

Spring Has Finally Sprung!

Spring has finally arrived in Utah! It took some time this year and we still have very unseasonal weather it seems, as in COLD weather, but as you can see from my photographs things are starting to brighten up!

I love the frothy pink and white blossoms that adorn this tree in our backyard. In the corner is our hot tub that we dip into several times per week. It is so relaxing and wonderful to lounge under the gazebo while sipping our favorite drinks...usually water or Diet Coke these days it seems!

Our gazebo on our back patio looks so bare! I need to get out there soon, get the roof on and haul all of our wicker furniture out of the barn, wash it off and get it all set up. I hang a chandelier in the center (yes, a working one!) and decorate the inside of the roof with garlands of flowers, fairies and other accessories. Notice the new french doors on our patio! We are so excited to have them this year. That has been a long time coming!

Along the side of our yard you will see two lilac bushes that are almost in full bloom. There are supposed to be SIX of them along the fence, but four of them did not make it when they were planted a few years back. I am waiting for the bushes to grow so I can get shoots from them.

Farther along there is an old rusty chair sitting in the dappled sunlight. It's a chair I picked up somewhere along the way and I love it for the rusty iron roses that are on the back. It sits near my climbing yellow roses and in a month or so the chair will be covered with roses! The chair stays out there all winter and even looks beautiful all stark and bare covered with newly fallen snow.

I will post more photographs once I get all of my "yard and porch decorating" done. I hope you are all enjoying a lovely spring day wherever you are! ~Stacy~

Some "Bunny" Loves Pink Roses!

Here is a little bit of eye candy for you to end your week with! We all love pink roses, or any color of rose for that matter...they are always so breathtaking in any form. I just adore Christie Repasy's work and the third photograph shows a stunning vase that she has hand painted. Isn't it just delicious! Her talent continues to amaze me as well as the talent of my wonderful friend, Jo-Anne Coletti of Vintage Rose Collection. I will try to showcase some of her work on my blog soon. She is absolutely one of the most talented rose painters that you will ever see hands down! I only wish that I had 1/10 of the talent that she has when it comes to painting. Have a lovely weekend my friends ~ wishing you all a most happy awe-inspiring spring! ~Stacy~ xo

Spring & Easter Decor

Today I thought I'd share some pictures with you of my entry table in our front room and the way I had it decorated for Easter and the coming of Spring. Each year I say to myself that I am going to simplify things and each year it turns out like this...kind of crazy and whimsical, but I love it! This year was definitely no exception. Once I got going, there was no stopping me!

As you may have guessed or known from previous posts, I love pastels and soft, romantic colors and those are the colors that I use for pretty much any occasion. I have lots of Easter decorations stored away, most of them coming from thrift stores and end of season sales. I used lots of pink and yellow Easter grass this year, along with sweet eggs, nests, and other items that either fit in with the theme or with the colors I use.

The two big Easter eggs with the rabbits inside came from Canada. I purchased them when I was visiting Mom and left them with her because I couldn't take them back with me on the plane. They caught up with me again on another trip (a driving trip) and made their way home. The sweet egg topiary tree was purchased at Tai Pan Trading Company here in Salt Lake. It was around $50 and there was no way I was going to pay that! Lo and behold, in their clearance section in a back corner of the store was the same tree with ONE egg missing...the price...$8! I snapped that puppy up and had an egg at home that matched the missing one. A bit of hot glue and that was that...a savings of $42! Works for me!

I also love all of the bright pink birds and butterflies. I found them at Michael's one day (on sale of course!) so I purchased a whole bunch of them. In fact, I think that I took all of the pink birds and butterflies that were left! I like to mix in unexpected items too...the green hardcover novels that the rose jug is sitting on are antique french novels that my mom-in-law was going to get rid of! Yikes! They fit in with the color scheme and helped to elevate the rose jug on the table so they stayed. You will also see a cute bird and egg topiary on the second shelf that I found at the thrift store for a few dollars, a very large pink ceramic speckled Easter egg from the thrift store and a lovely pink book that I found at Walgreens of all places...it is entitled "Princess Alyss of Wonderland and it's pink and lovely so it became part of my display!

You can add pretty much anything to your displays to make them charming and interesting as long as they fit in with your theme and/or colors that you are using. I hope you enjoyed having a peek at my Easter display this year. Who knows how it will look next year?! ~Stacy~ xo
