I know that the movie "Marie Antoinette" with Kirsten Dunst has been out for quite awhile, but I just received it from Netflix the other day and had a chance to view it. What a gorgeous movie! Now, I really didn't think that the storyline of this movie was particularly strong, but it was captivating enough. What really got to me were the incredible costumes, the lavish sets, the architecture of the Palace of Versailles, the gardens, etc. It really gave me a sense of what it must have been like to have lived in this lavish era, if you were a Royal of course! I can't say that the "common" people faired very well. You will recall the famous line of Marie Antoinette about the starving people of France when she said "let them eat cake". Pretty hard to eat cake when you don't even have bread!

I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like to work on a movie set such as this. What an experience that would be! I actually liked Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette. I am not a super huge fan of her, but I like her well enough and I thought that she portrayed the child-like Queen of France very well. I would really recommend this movie to all of you who love living a romantic life. I know you would enjoy seeing it ~ it truly is a "feast for the senses". Now if I could only get my hands on some of those fabulous French dresses and shoes!

I'm sure that this is probably old news to most of you out there, but I was cruising around on the web last night and found out some absolutely wonderful news! It seems as though the much beloved Victoria Magazine is going to be relaunched in October! Yes ~ they are bringing it back! I can't tell you how happy that makes me! It will be on the newsstands in October and the issue will be a November/December issue. The magazine will not be published each month as it once was, but rather every two months.

The thing that I love so much about Victoria Magazine is that no matter how old the issues are, the content is never out of style. I have issues from way back in the 1980's and the majority of the articles are still appropriate for today's decor. It goes to show that anything truly classic never really goes out of style.

There is something so elegant and classy about this magazine and I was so disappointed when it went out of publication a few years ago. Victoria Magazine can definitely count me in as a faithful subscriber ~ for the second time around! Hats go off to everyone involved for realizing that there was a real void in the industry when this beautiful magazine ceased publication. Thank you for bringing it back!

I have been working today on listings for the web site. Above are a few of the newest things that have been listed in Vintage Finds. I have so much to list ~ where will I find the time! Right now I just feel like I want to be out in the yard!

Tomorrow I will be working on more listings. I have some absolutely gorgeous vintage cherubs lamps to list so watch for those. They graced our bedroom for several years ~ hubby made them for me, but since I redid our bedroom a few weeks ago I have pretty much "gutted it". I only have two things on my walls ~ a large picture and a small mirror. There must be something wrong with me! I am usually the Queen of Clutter! I am loving the new simple look in the bedroom though. I should have cleaned it out years ago...even though I am getting rid of some of my favorite things!

I have been working all day and now it's 10:34 p.m. and I am off to watch a movie. I think I will watch "Heat" with Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro. It is a favorite ~ it's long, but good! After all, what else do I have to do? Hubby won't be home until 1:00 and then we'll still stay up after that! With the shift he works, we are definitely night owls. It is unusual for me to go to bed before 2:00 a.m. Wade came home one night and I was in bed at 1:00 a.m. and he came in and asked me if I was sick! What does that tell you! (*_*)

Well, I'm off to relax. I hope you are all having a great week! Talk to you soon!

Hello Everyone ~ it's been awhile since I have blogged! Many of you know that I have been busy with my Mom who is visiting me from Canada. She arrived on March 18th and we were having such a good time that she extended her visit by two weeks. Now she only has until Saturday and we are feeling like her six week visit isn't long enough! It's a good thing we get along ~ it sure has been lovely to have been able to spend all of this wonderful time together.

You may have noticed that the web site has been a little bit slack lately! I guess that's what happens when you have company. We have been running around lot and have just been enjoying each other's company. Next week I will be back at it getting more listings on the web site. I have so many lovely things for you!

Last week I repainted our bedroom. The room was in an uproar for three days, but now it is back together and looking beautiful ~ in my opinion! I will take some pics next week and post them on the blog for you to see. We also bought a new gazebo for the summer and I will take some pics of that as well. It is a very heavy duty one that is bolted into the concrete on our patio ~ it gets quite windy here where we live! I decorated the inside of it today with floral garlands on the inside of the roof. It also has a chandelier! ~ I had an interesting one in the basement that was a little bit modern and I wasn't using it so Wade wired it up into the gazebo and it looks fabulous! It will be quite a treat this summer to have it!

I hope everyone is having a nice spring so far. Be sure to check in next week on the web site around the 1st of May when I will be listing lots of lovely new treasures for you!

One more thing ~ I am on a quest! Does anyone out there know where I can find a fabulous king sized bed skirt that has at least a 25" drop? My bed is huge and those skimpy skirts just don't cut it! I want it to puddle on the floor! Any suggestions would be really appreciated! I might have to break down and make one myself. (*_*) Email me or post a comment if you know of any that I might be interested in. Thank you ladies ~ so long for now!

Sweet New Cottage Treasures

Here are some of the newest treasures that have been added to our Cottage Treasures and Vintage Finds sections of our web site. We have some really lovely stuff on right now with more to come! Mom and I visited my favorite antique mall late last week and we found some very pretty treasures! Mom is busy ironing linens for me ~ thank you! (*_*) I hate that job! I have so much stuff to list right now, I just have to find time to do it all.

My Mom has extended her stay and is not going back to Canada now until the 28th of this month! Yeah! We felt that time was running out and we weren't doing all that we wanted to do (not that ironing was in her game plan!) so she decided to stay for two more weeks than planned. Works for me!

Saturday was my birthday and it was a great day ~ hot as blazes out! We took a drive up to Park City and braved the outlet mall. Big mistake! It was packed and we didn't stay long. Then it was over to Heber City for dinner at Chick's Diner, a little old diner that has apparently been around for 40+ years. The food is amazing. I love it! Then it was down Provo Canyon and then back home to Riverton. My Mom bought me a gorgeous Royal Doulton figurine for my birthday...the first one I've ever owned. So lovely! My hubby had ME order my birthday present ~ a yummy big pink crock pot from JC Penney. It will arrive this week. Can't wait! The first birthday too without my Dad...it felt funny...a year of firsts I guess, BUT it was a great birthday! (*_*)
