In Love With Jacarandas

With it being spring and planting season, I am completely inspired by the breathtaking beauty of all the flowering trees on the market today. I am looking for a pretty tree for my front yard and looking at all the trees out there brought a special memory back to me of a wonderful place with the most spectacular flowering trees that I have ever seen. One of the most beautiful places that I have ever visited is Grafton, NSW, Australia, where they have the Jacaranda Festival every year during the end of October and the first week of November. These gorgeous trees grow in subtropic and tropical climates and are originally from Brazil. They now grow in several tropical climes in the world including Africa and Australia.

I have been fortunate enough to visit Australia numerous times and attending the Jacaranda Festival in Grafton was a fabulous time that I will never forget. The entire small city of Grafton is surrounded in a sea of purple for weeks and when the blossoms start to fall an entire carpet of beautiful blooms surround your feet in a haze of lavender.

I only wish that living in Utah could afford me the pleasure of planting these striking trees in my yard. So many lovely things exist in other parts of the world that we can only visit from time to time or see in photographs, books or on television. I only know that if they could be planted here, my back yard would covered in purple from head to toe. ~Stacy~ *Photos Courtesy of Grafton Jacaranda Festival, Grafton, NSW, Australia*

Pics are breathtaking, I've never seen anything like that! It really looks like a sea of purple. The flowering almond is also so beautiful. I planted the exact tree in my front yard 3 years ago and it's already bloomed for me. The bloom lasted only a few days, but it is so worth the wait all winter long! Thank you for the lovely posts, and yes, I had the "best" Mother's Day ever! The only part missing was being able to take my mom out for brunch at Fandangos restaraunt in Monterey, Calif. However, she loved the hydrangea floral arranegment I had sent to her. Maybe one day, we will be together so I can pamper her for Mother's Day. Hope that you are well and at peace friend.

What a stunning place! I am in awe. I think I need to save this to my favorites photos if that's ok. Thanks for sharing. I have always loved purple.

I grew up in So. California and we had two Jacaranda trees on our parkway. So lovely when they were in full bloom and I use to love the "popping" sound the flowers that landed on our sidewalk would make as I rode my bike over them. These trees are still all over so. California today so you don't have to go too far to see them...only about ten hours!...and you can visit Disneyland while your there too~
