Oh Dear...Or Should I Say Deer!

This is the view from my Mom's upper balcony at her home in the Okanagan
Valley, Lake Country, B.C. to be more exact.  She lives in a beautiful Victorian
house that my Dad built for her 15 years ago.  It is their dream home.  Sadly,
my Dad passed away suddenly 5.5 years ago, but his memory is alive and well
and their house is truly a testiment to how much my Dad adored my Mom and
wanted to live out the rest of his days with her.  Alas, it was not to be.

Well well well, what have we here?  My Mom lives in the country; well, it's a
populated area, but it's surrounded by orchards, woods and vineyards.  These
beautiful creatures are seen on her property almost every day.

There are usually between two and four deer running around her place on any
given day.  They seem to think they  have the run of the place!

This is the back of Mom's house ~ a massive brick courtyard with raised rose
gardens, a pond and a gazebo.  Can you spot the three troublemakers in the
background?  Just stay away from the roses please!

Two more on the driveway...geez, they're getting kind of close to the house!

They seem to love munching on the Saskatoon bushes!

Oh, I don't think so!  I had to tap on the window and chase this guy away!
The funny thing was the next day my Mom looked out and saw one of them
standing right in the middle of her raised rose garden happily munching the
buds off of the roses.  Good thing it was October and not June!

This is one of the reasons they love it so much...it's their own little forest and
and with all of the apple orchards and vineyards nearby, who wouldn't want to
camp out here!

A very lovely little Canadian maple tree that is bursting forth with gorgeous
autumn colors...perfect for being in Canada I'd say!

This is a great place to sit in the spring and summer...the view from my Mom's
lower deck.  It's picture perfect and always wonderful to go home!

Canada was awesome!

I'm finally home after being away back "home" for five weeks in Canada.
I didn't take alot of pictures, but thought I'd share what I did take in a few
posts.  Of course one must always take the obligatory airport shot as the
plane is pushing back from the gate.  I love to fly so anything to do with the
airport is right up my alley!  My first leg was from Salt Lake City to Seattle,
where it was raining (big surprise)!  I love the Pacific Northwest, but I really
don't know if I could cope with the weather.  It would make me nuts!  Now
all of you Pacific Northwest people...don't hate me because of that comment!

This is one of the best sights for me...looking out a plane window.  I love it!
These two shots were taken as we were descending into SeaTac in Seattle.

You've gotta love it!  It's that "we're all in this thing together" shot.
You might as well enjoy the ride!

I'm Outa Here!

Well, it's time!  I'm off tomorrow...flying home to Canada for five weeks!
Yes, I said FIVE!  I can't wait to see my family and friends and can you
believe that I'm leaving hubby at home!  Wow!  I'm even leaving him in
charge of the web site and my Etsy shoppe until I return!  He's really the
best shipper around!  (*_*)  Such a good guy!  The weather up there is
beautiful (in the 70's) so it will be just perfect!  For the record, it is going
to be 90 here in Salt Lake tomorrow!  Unreal!

So it's out the door in the morning to Salt Lake International, then on
to SeaTac (Seattle) and then home to Kelowna, B.C.  My whole trip will
only take me 4:40 and that's with a 1.5 hour stopover in Seattle so it's
not a long trip, but I love to fly so I am excited to be on the move!

Have a great October and I'll try to take
lots of cool pictures to post upon my return!

More Lovely Stuff From Treasures!

Early fall is in the air here in Utah and what better way to celebrate than
visiting a great antique mall.  Here are some pics from one of my favorite
malls, Treasures Antique Mall in Springville, Utah.

As you can see, there are lots of lovely things to catch your eye!

I am a Bessie Pease Gutmann fan and only have two antique prints.
Looking at this wall...maybe I should stock up, but they are a little on the
high side for me right now.

Here is a nice collection of vintage vanity items.

A closeup view...how pretty!

Here is a beautiful original watercolor painting of a pretty lady.  Love!

And last but not least, another Gutmann print...so charming!

I hope you enjoyed your stroll through the mall.

Late August Flowers

As most of you  know, I don't do alot of blogging in the summer.  One thing
I do enjoy doing is gardening and my flowers have really taken off this year.
Here are some snaps that I took a few weeks back.  The flowers are even
more nuts now...they are growing like crazy in this 95+ degree heat.

I hope you enjoy them...

I hope you enjoyed my little piece of summer!

Jo-Anne Coletti's "The Feminine Home" ~ Where The Heart Is

Well girls, it's almost the end of July and you all know what's happening
at the beginning of August don't you?  If not, where have you been?  (*_*)

It's time for the newest edition of the The Feminine Home by my dear friend,
Jo-Anne Coletti!  The second edition of her book is coming out next week
and this one is entitled Where The Heart Is.  It promises to be even better
and more lovely than her first edition if you can even imagine that!  It
sure will be hard to top, but if anyone can pull it off, Jo can!

You can hop on over to her web site Vintage Rose Collection

and preorder your copy of this highly anticipated book!

I will leave you now with this glorious picture that I came across!
Isn't it just the most perfect pink room ever!  So beautiful!

Have a lovely day!

Hollyhock Heaven!

Those of you who have followed my blog for any length of time will know that
I do not do alot of blogging during the summer.  In fact, I am lucky to get in
three or four posts during the summer months.  Why you ask?  Well...I just
hate being inside!  I would much rather be out in the garden puttering around
or just sitting on the porch taking in the beauty of it all.  My web site suffers,
my blog is neglected and my Etsy site grows stale, but I'm sorry, I just can't
help it.  It's all worth it to me to enjoy the beauty of every summer day...

So today I thought I would show you my pretty hollyhocks that are in my
front garden.  I haven't planted any for years and years, but they just keep
coming up and this year they are just beautiful!

I love all of the different colors mixed in together!

So English cottage!

I just added this medallion after the above pictures were taken.  The brick wall
was so bare and needed some class so I went over to Hobby Lobby and found
three lovely pieces that "married" well together.  I love the way it looks!

I hope you enjoyed my flowers!
