Have you ever decorated something years ago (okay, only a few years
ago!) and then woke up one day, looked at it and thought to yourself...
just what is that HOT MESS going on with that doo-dad? In other
words, just what the heck was I thinking???
Well I am about to give you a lesson in the "what was I thinking"
category. Take a look at that shelf above. Three or so years ago,
I thought that it was the bomb! Now to me it just looks like a bomb
went off and exploded CRAP all over my shelf! (*_*) I've had this
shabby shelf for years. I talked an antique store owner into selling it
to me one day and I've loved it ever since. It has a nice cream
background with very well worn pink paint underneath.
Now take a serious look at that monstrosity...everything under the sun is
on that shelf! There is a tray at the top, postcards, little birds, Austrian
china, Marie Antoinette books, flowers, pin baskets, altered art frames,
little bobble heads...you name it, it's on there! I took one look at it one
day and decided that enough was really enough! There is definitely
something in the air with me these days; clutter is driving me nuts!
So...absolutely EVERYTHING came off of that shelf. Look at it now,
it's so bare and clean looking...a blank slate you might say.
Here is the finished result and I am quite happy with it. I added mostly
silver framed photographs, some tarnished silver and only a few little
accessories here and there. You might recognize the lovely postcards
on the top shelf...they are from Georgianna Lane of Georgianna Lane
Photography. I think that it looks so much better! I am still not sure
about the vintage pink show ribbons on either side. I might remove them
yet. They are really neat old ribbons that I purchased on Etsy. I think
that the pink and white color scheme was the ENTIRE reason that I
purchased them, okay, I know it was! They are vintage cat show
ribbons from the 1960's and I thought that they were really pretty.
Now it's on to my next project...my laundry room! The shelves in there
are overflowing with all sorts of bits and pieces. It's probably time for
another donation trip to the thrift store!
Thanks for dropping by today!

Well i'm shocked no snacks were found at that there shelf... :) The great thing about a shelf is we can take away and add to our hearts desire. I do agree, I too would have snagged that shelf! Hugs. Tammy
soo nice photos..i love pink soo sweet !!xoxo
I can see why you had to have that shelf the first time you saw it Stacy. It is the perfect shabby for me. I actually loved both the before and the after :) but I know with shelves, that if we put too much on them, pretty soon you don't notice anything on them. I need to do some editing myself.
sending hugs from me...
What a great shabby shelf! I love the new arrangement, but what to do with all the treasures you took away...don't say thrift..Unless it is my thrift LOL! Thank you for your sweet congrats on my dress form adventure...We'll see how it goes...Or doesn't!

Your shelf is gorgeous just empty, but yes I love it this way too. Those picture or card holders on the top shelf are just wonderful. Doesn't it feel nice to have something new, even if it is just newly arranged?
