I was cruising around on the web the other night and came across this picture of Long Duk Dong from the movie "Sixteen Candles". This movie is a true 80's classic. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there that thinks that this movie is completely hilarious! I totally love it! I think it's because I am a child of the 80's and those parties in the movie seriously reminded me of one or two or 50 parties that I went to with my wild friends! We were not a very tame crowd I'll admit that! I don't know about that "crazy Chinese guy", but there sure were alot of similarities to what went on in high school in my day. Just hearing that stupid gong go off every time Long Duk Dong appears still cracks me up!

And admit it girls...who out there didn't have a serious crush on Jake Ryan. Come on! Admit it! Didn't we all want to be Samantha Baker at the church when the crowd parted and there was Jake waiting for her beside his Porsche! Yes...you did! (*_*)

Don't we all wish that life could turn out this way? I know I do and in a sense it did for me. I hope it did for you too! If you want a highly entertaining, crazy movie that will help you relive your youth, I recommend this one. I'm sure you'll love it ~ it's totally mindless and fun! (*_*)

MY PRETTY ROSE TREE
by William Blake

A flower was offered to me,
Such a flower as May never bore;
But I said "I've a pretty rose tree,"
And I passed the sweet flower o'er.

Then I went to my pretty rose tree,
To tend her by day and by night;
But my rose turned away with jealousy,
And her thorns were my only delight.

I went to the best auction last Saturday in the lovely HEAT and found the most amazing antique china. I ended up purchasing most of it ~ cake plates, dessert plates, serving dishes, teacups, demitasse sets, you name it, I got it! I think that alot of the women there were getting abit annoyed at me for wanting so much of it, but hey ~ I'm a "china" girl and all is fair in love and auction sales! I don't go to auctions to make friends! LOL! At least that's what the auctioneer always says! So be sure to check the web site for a ton of new treasures that I will be listing all week long.

It is finally starting to heat up here in Utah and it's about time! The temps are in the high 80's all week long. I love it when my garden starts to take off. My iris' are glorious and just starting to bloom, my foxgloves and hollyhocks are coming along nicely, my rose hedges are starting to bloom slowly. It's just so beautiful out there! I have to get down to the greenhouse to get some more plants for the front yard. Soon!

Nothing much else is new. I got back to the gym yesterday for the first time in about two months. I completely slacked off when my Mom was here for six weeks and didn't go once. Now I'm back and it's good to be back. I miss it when I don't go. They even got new carpeting when I was away! It looks awesome in that cardio room now! So much better ~ maybe that will keep people motivated to go! Or...maybe not! (*_*)

I'm off for now. You all have a nice day and I'll catch up with you again really soon! xoxo

I repainted and redecorated our bedroom a few weeks back when my Mom was still visiting. Here are a few photographs of the room and some favorite things. If you want to see all 20 photographs, visit our web site www.stacysshabbyshoppe.com and click on the Photo Gallery link at the top of the page. I love the way the room looks now ~ it's very uncluttered and romantic! It's fun to see how other people decorate isn't it! ~ enjoy!

I know that the movie "Marie Antoinette" with Kirsten Dunst has been out for quite awhile, but I just received it from Netflix the other day and had a chance to view it. What a gorgeous movie! Now, I really didn't think that the storyline of this movie was particularly strong, but it was captivating enough. What really got to me were the incredible costumes, the lavish sets, the architecture of the Palace of Versailles, the gardens, etc. It really gave me a sense of what it must have been like to have lived in this lavish era, if you were a Royal of course! I can't say that the "common" people faired very well. You will recall the famous line of Marie Antoinette about the starving people of France when she said "let them eat cake". Pretty hard to eat cake when you don't even have bread!

I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like to work on a movie set such as this. What an experience that would be! I actually liked Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette. I am not a super huge fan of her, but I like her well enough and I thought that she portrayed the child-like Queen of France very well. I would really recommend this movie to all of you who love living a romantic life. I know you would enjoy seeing it ~ it truly is a "feast for the senses". Now if I could only get my hands on some of those fabulous French dresses and shoes!

I'm sure that this is probably old news to most of you out there, but I was cruising around on the web last night and found out some absolutely wonderful news! It seems as though the much beloved Victoria Magazine is going to be relaunched in October! Yes ~ they are bringing it back! I can't tell you how happy that makes me! It will be on the newsstands in October and the issue will be a November/December issue. The magazine will not be published each month as it once was, but rather every two months.

The thing that I love so much about Victoria Magazine is that no matter how old the issues are, the content is never out of style. I have issues from way back in the 1980's and the majority of the articles are still appropriate for today's decor. It goes to show that anything truly classic never really goes out of style.

There is something so elegant and classy about this magazine and I was so disappointed when it went out of publication a few years ago. Victoria Magazine can definitely count me in as a faithful subscriber ~ for the second time around! Hats go off to everyone involved for realizing that there was a real void in the industry when this beautiful magazine ceased publication. Thank you for bringing it back!

I have been working today on listings for the web site. Above are a few of the newest things that have been listed in Vintage Finds. I have so much to list ~ where will I find the time! Right now I just feel like I want to be out in the yard!

Tomorrow I will be working on more listings. I have some absolutely gorgeous vintage cherubs lamps to list so watch for those. They graced our bedroom for several years ~ hubby made them for me, but since I redid our bedroom a few weeks ago I have pretty much "gutted it". I only have two things on my walls ~ a large picture and a small mirror. There must be something wrong with me! I am usually the Queen of Clutter! I am loving the new simple look in the bedroom though. I should have cleaned it out years ago...even though I am getting rid of some of my favorite things!

I have been working all day and now it's 10:34 p.m. and I am off to watch a movie. I think I will watch "Heat" with Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro. It is a favorite ~ it's long, but good! After all, what else do I have to do? Hubby won't be home until 1:00 and then we'll still stay up after that! With the shift he works, we are definitely night owls. It is unusual for me to go to bed before 2:00 a.m. Wade came home one night and I was in bed at 1:00 a.m. and he came in and asked me if I was sick! What does that tell you! (*_*)

Well, I'm off to relax. I hope you are all having a great week! Talk to you soon!
